BIG LEAGUE BASEBALLS.com | MUSEUM OF BASEBALLS | WORLD SERIES | 2001 World Series Ball 2 (Official On Field Ball)
About the Ball: The 2001 Rawlings Official World Series Baseball. This ball was actually the second version of 2001 World Series ball produced by Rawlings.
After the 9/11/2001 tragedy and attacks on the United States, Major League Baseball decided to replace the current 2001 World Series logo and ball pictured here with this new, patriotic American Flag bunting logo you see pictured.
Although this ball is widely considered to be the official gamer, we have seen the National Baseball Hall of Fame confirm that the original version did in fact get used in the 2001 World Series, alongside this updated version.
And there is also a 3rd Official 2001 World Series ball - though it is only a Ceremonial 1st Pitch Ball.
About the Series: The 2001 World Series - the Arizona Diamondbacks defeated the new York Yankees 4 game to 3. D-backs aces Randy Johnson and Curt Schilling were named co-MVPs.
