About the Ball: This version of the Official 1998 Mickey Mantle Day baseball appears to be the exact same as the Official Game Ball version, pictured here, except that is has additional text in the commemorative stamp: "Limited Edition Commemorative Ball." This perhaps was a prototype, or it's possible these versions were sold at the game or Stadium Giveaways (SGAs) to fans who attended the game.
Additionally, the laces on this ball are a different hue than the official ball. They're clearly lighter, almost purple, compared to the dark Yankees Navy Blue featured on the game ball. This could also be from fading, but you'll note the other prototype in the gallery, pictured here, has the same blueish-purple stitching.
