About the Ball: A. Bartlett Giamatti was president of the National League of Major League Baseball from 1986-1988, and then became commissioner of Major League Baseball in 1989. He was NEVER president of the American League.
This baseball, stamped as an Official American League ball, features the A. Barttlet Giamatti official stamped signature. It's clearly a much smaller type than the game balls of this time, and the lower panel type is also much smaller, which leads us to believe that this was a Pastime Collection reprint ball, or another reprint or prototype of some kind.
The ball came new in a Rawlings 90's era "Collectors Edition" box, with the UPC label "ROA Baseball Giamatti" on the bottom.
