BIG LEAGUE BASEBALLS.com | MUSEUM OF BASEBALLS | OFFICIAL INTERNATIONAL | Rawlings 1979 MLB Japan Series Baseball
About the Ball: The 1979 MLB-Japan "Major League Series." Though under a different title, this is the same event, for all intents and purposes, that was later dubbed the Japan All-Star Series, from what we understand. There is very little information about these matchups from earlier years.
This commemoratibve game ball is believed to be this first special ball used for these matchups, and the fourth ever Official Rawlings Game Ball - though not an official MLB regular season ball. It does have MLB commissioner Bowie K. Kuhn's official facsimile signature stamp.
Intertesting that the commemorative stamp points out "American & National" as oppoed to just "MLB."
This ball should be considered extremely rare. After years of collecting, it's only the 2nd one I've come across, though the production run and commercial sales are unkown.
