About the ball: This American League Gene A. Budig ball was used by the Red Sox at Fenway Park. It features the classic Red Sox stockings logo with the text "All-Star Game '99" overlayed. Sweet! It is considered the rarest of this style of special event ball, very difficult to find new, or any condition.
About the event: Starting in 1997, Rawlings and MLB began making commemorative game balls to be used by each season's All-Star Game host organization in regular season games leading up to the All-Star weekend. The experiment ended after the 2000 season, unfortunately.
