About the Ball: New York Yankees navy blue laces and blue stamping. The commemorative logo features and action shot of "Joltin'" Joe and a facsimile signature stamped underneath, all place in front of the Yankees logo. These are Gene A. Budig American League baseballs. Still considered fairly common, new in box today.
About the event: These baseballs were used in a game at Yankee Stadium to honor Joe DiMaggio on September 27, 1998 - Joe DiMaggio Day at Yankee Stadium. DiMaggio was given nice replica World Series rings becuase his nine were stolen from a hotel room many year before the event.
Yankees owner George Steinbrenner said "Joe DiMaggio is a national institution, and he is a living symbol of the pride, class and dignity which are synonymous with the Yankee pinstripes."
